Whether you want to learn basic skills, lob a few over the net with a friend, or enjoy friendly competition, the tennis program offered by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board serves up plenty of fun and exercise.
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board offers tennis lessons for all skill levels at participating parks. It’s a great opportunity to brush up on your skills, get active and meet new friends.
Lessons are available in Beginner, Advanced Beginner and Intermediate levels. Students are encouraged to take multiple sessions to advance from beginner to intermediate. Participants must be at least 16 years old.
Levels
Beginner: No skills necessary. Instruction includes basic strategy, forehand, backhand, serves and scoring.
Advanced Beginner: Completed beginner classes, not yet ready for intermediate. Lessons focus on refining basic strokes and basic doubles strategy.
Intermediate: Completed advanced beginner classes. Lessons targeted at stroke consistency, directional control, depth and dependability. More aggressive net play, while developing touch, footwork & court coverage.
