Activities and Programs
Minneapolis residents can enjoy the benefits of recreation and the city's many amenities through hundreds of tax-supported programs and services offered by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. Programs range from classes at neighborhood Rec Centers and environmental programs in the great outdoors, to sports leagues and concerts in the parks. Minneapolis residents who cannot afford instructional fees because of economic need may apply for recreation fee assistance.

Adult Sports

Outdoor Winter Recreation
Stay active with outdoor recreation opportunities including figure skating, hockey and broomball on 47 ice rinks. Check out Wirth Winter Recreation Area for cross-country skiing, snow tubing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and cycling.

Indoor Ice Arenas
The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board offers two indoor ice arenas to give skaters and hockey players the opportunity to skate year-round or even play soccer on specially-laid turf.

Many Recreation Centers offer computer labs for free public use for educational classes, homework, graphic design, and email.
