Figure skating at the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board’s (MPRB) Parade Ice Garden has been a long-standing tradition. Developed in 1973, the rink was designed to accommodate both figure skating and hockey. It has three rinks: a 96’ x 56’ studio rink, and two full size rinks at 200’ x 85’ feet each.
The studio rink is a comfortable size rink for younger skaters that does not overwhelm them and is a positive setting for rapid progress in the skating program. Learn to Skate is wonderful setting for both the Learn to Skate and beginning hockey programs. It’s is beneficial for both aspiring figure skaters and hockey players as it teaches edge control and overall skating skills. It’s also a fun program for youngsters to learn skating skills that they can show off on the Park Board’s numerous winter outdoor skating facilities.
The South Rink is home to the Figure Skating Training program and the Synchronized Skating teams.
